New Giants deal for Aspinwall
05 January 2007
The 25-year-old is one of the top wingers in Super League and Giants coach Jon Sharp could not conceal his delight at negotiating the new deal.
"It's fantastic we've been able to hold on to one of the best wingers in the game, and I'm proud to have got him on board for the next three years," Sharp said.
"As far as I'm concerned, there's no better player at returning kicks than Martin because he possesses such great strength. He's also quick enough to finish and is very hard to stop close to the line.
"I don't think there's any doubt we missed him at the beginning of the season when his groin injury kept him out for longer than we would have wished. But he returned to us stronger than ever, and I'm sure he'll soon be back in the Great Britain set-up."
Aspinwall was equally delighted to have signed the deal, adding: "I've loved every minute here, and I hope I can continue to say that until the end of 2010 when the contract comes to an end.
"That's something I'm sure will be achieved if we can start to fulfil our goals, starting by getting into the play-offs for the first time this season.
"It's still going to take a massive effort because this Super League competition is tougher than ever. But we have the ability to do it, and I hope I can play as full a part as possible.
