New Rhinos deal for Lauitiiti
10 January 2008
The 28-year-old second-rower, whose contract was due to run out in November, has signed a new two-year deal which will keep him at Headingley until the end of the 2010 season.
"I could not have imagined when I arrived here four years ago that things would have gone so well for me," he said. "We have got a good, young group of players here now and I think we are going to have even more success in the future. I hope I can play my part in that over the next two years."
Lauitiiti has played 119 games for the Rhinos, 68 of them as a substitute, but knee injuries have restricted him to just 14 appearances this season.
Leeds coach Brian McClennan added: "We are all very, very happy to have Ali with us for another two years."
Lauitiiti's re-signing leaves only two senior players out of contract beyond this year. They are forwards Carl Ablett and Nick Scruton, who has been linked with a move to Hull KR.
Half-backs Danny McGuire and Rob Burrow recently signed new five-year deals last month, while Brent Webb, Scott Donald, Ryan Bailey, Jamie Peacock and Jamie Jones-Buchanan have also agreed new contracts.
