New Zealand move further ahead

New Zealand extended their lead over Bangladesh to 140 runs as they reached lunch 277 for six on day two of the first Test at Dunedin.

Having resumed on 156 for four, Matthew Bell hit his second Test century while Jacob Oram added 78 runs to his overnight score and is five away from his century at the break.

Bangladesh had endured a torrid time when batting on Friday and had been dismissed for just 137 and needed a strong display in the morning session to alleviate some of the pressure they were under.

But Bell, who had resumed on 74, chipped steadily away alongside Oram to reach 107 runs before he was dismissed 20 minutes before lunch lbw from Mohammad Ashraful's delivery.

And Ashraful grabbed his second wicket shortly before lunch when Brendon McCullum's edge was caught at first slip by Junaid Siddique.

At lunch Oram was unbeaten on 95 while Daniel Vettori was one not out.
