No new Lancashire deal for Cork

Lancashire have confirmed they will not be offering former England seamer Dominic Cork a new contract for the 2009 season.

The 37-year-old, who took 131 wickets in 37 Tests, moved to Old Trafford five years ago after a long spell with Derbyshire, which included a stint as captain.

Leg-spinner Simon Marshall, 26, will also be released at the end of the season.

A statement from the county read: "Dominic Cork has been a great ambassador for Lancashire both on and off the field and is fully committed to finishing the Championship season with the club.

"This decision was made with the longer term development of the playing staff in mind and to allow the side to evolve, providing younger players the opportunity to grow into the team.

"Lancashire will support Dominic in every way to help him extend his cricketing career past this season."
