Noble takes cautious view

Wigan coach Brian Noble was refusing to think about the Grand Final despite watching his side follow up their opening play-off win at Bradford with a thrilling victory over last year's runners-up Hull.

The Warriors held off a tremendous finish from Hull to claim a 21-18 victory in Saturday's semi-final at the KC Stadium and will meet Leeds at Headingley on Friday for the right to meet defending champions St Helens in the decider at Old Trafford.

But Noble was keeping his feet firmly on the ground, and said: ``There are still two games to go. We are not getting carried away. There is still another game to get to the big game. We understand the measure of the task next week but we are showing the desire and effort. We have just got to be a bit smarter next week.''

Wigan produced the biggest comeback in Super League history to win at Bradford and they recovered a 14-8 deficit to win on Saturday, although they were forced to defend desperately as Hull launched a ferocious late onslaught.

Noble added: ``How good is this competition? Full credit goes to Hull, who tried to find a way to win it. What a fantastic show from them.

``We tried to close the game down a bit early, which is a lesson for our young blokes. It shows the team is pretty much together.''

Wigan sustained injuries to winger Mark Calderwood (ankle) and prop Iafeta Palea'asina (hamstring) but Noble said he expected both to be fit to face Leeds.
