Norris fined for 'handcuffs' gesture

Ipswich midfielder David Norris has been fined £5,000 and warned as to his future conduct after admitting a charge of improper conduct relating to a gesture he made while celebrating a goal against Blackpool.

The 27-year-old made a 'handcuffs' gesture during the November 8 match as a message to his former Plymouth team-mate Luke McCormick, who was jailed last month for causing the death of young brothers Arron and Ben Peak by dangerous driving.

Norris' fine will be paid to the charity established by the Peak family. A Football Association regulatory commission statement said: "This was an act of immense naivety by Mr Norris, who should have considered the possible implications of his actions."
