The striker had the best of the chances after starting his first match since the win over Inverness back on November 2 but it ultimately proved to be a frustrating night as the clash at Ibrox ended goalless.
He said: "It was disappointing not to score but the team did really well so we shouldn't blame anybody. "If anybody is to blame, it's me."
Rangers now face a daunting trip to Athens for the second leg next week knowing the Greeks will now be regarded as favourites to progress to the last 16 of the tournament.
Novo added: "Luck wasn't really on our side and that was disappointing. I thought the team was doing really well but these things happen in football.
"Rangers were the better team and should have won the game but it didn't happen and everything is still open.
"I think we still have a good chance over there and a win or a draw will take us through.
"It will be a totally different game. We will go for everything and hope it all comes good.
"It was important that we didn't concede a goal. That was important for us and Davie (Weir) and Carlos (Cuellar) did well.
"Now a scoring draw will be good enough for us and we will go there with confidence."
