O'Driscoll's side were competitive throughout against the All Blacks and were level at 8-8 at half-time but, under freezing rain, the home side pulled away after the break.
"I don't know if I've played in much colder than that," the Ireland captain told Sky Sports 1. "It was a difficult game of rugby and we were better off not having the ball at times. We were in it for 60 minutes but we couldn't hold on."
The All Blacks did not enjoy the comfortable winning margin predicted but captain Richie McCaw was satisfied just to beat the Irish.
"It was a tough match," he said.
"We always knew it was going to be like that but the boys dug deep and a Test win is a Test win."
