The 23-year-old's suspension expired on Sunday night and she was immediately included in the British team for the World Championships.
"I was pretty close (to giving it all up). I'd be lying if I said I wasn't," Ohuruogu admitted.
"I was very angry because it happened too fast and I wasn't prepared for that and I didn't think it would have escalated the way it did.
"There was a lot of anger and frustration. I didn't know how I was going to keep on going for the next year.
"But I probably would never have forgiven myself if I had not seen the whole thing through. I couldn't see myself walking away from it.
"Shortly after the ban I had the operation on my Achilles and I had to be strong to get fit. That is where most of my motivation came from.
"The ban is up now and as devastating as it was, you have to learn to move on and to carry that anger around is a burden I don't want."
