O'Neill anger at Nakamura link

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has angrily dismissed suggestions that he is set to bring Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura to the Premier League.

Reports this week have linked the Northern Irishman with a raid on his former club for the highly-rated Japan international but O'Neill insists there is no chance the former Reggina player will be part of his summer restructuring at Villa Park.

O'Neill told the club's official website: "I wouldn't normally respond to a specific rumour, but on this occasion I feel I have to. Neither myself, nor anybody else at the football club has shown any interest in this particular player, nor indeed anyone at Celtic Football Club."

He added: "Let me tell you categorically, it is a load of complete tosh. I have not been near Celtic for the player and I won't be.

"I think people in the media simply guess about which type of player this manager or that manager wants and, in my case, make the connection with Celtic and comes up with fantasy. I'm really pretty fed up with it."
