Pakistan make steady progress

Sourav Ganguly took the wicket of Salman Butt as Pakistan reached lunch at 180-2 on the third day of the third Test against India.

India had posted a first-innings total of 626 and Pakistan need another 246 runs if they are to make India bat again.

Younis Khan was doing a solid job for the tourists, though he did survive a number of scares, as he finished the morning session unbeaten on 62.

Butt had started the day on 50 but was fortunate to add more runs when he survived a call for leg before from Irfan Pathan.

After that thought he and Younis Khan were making steady progress but Ganguly made the breakthrough when Butt was lured into a poke that proved fatal. The 23-year-old had reached 63.

Mohammad Yousuf joined Younis Khan in the middle while Anil Kumble brought himself on 20 minutes before lunch.

And, though their were a couple of hairy moments, the duo survived to reach lunch with Younis Khan on 62 while Yousuf was six not out.

India are 1-0 up in the series after winning the opening Test in New Delhi by six wickets.
