Panesar in for Swann

Monty Panesar made his long-awaited first appearance in the series as England made only one change to their line-up for the final one-day international against Sri Lanka.

Overlooked for the opening four matches of the series because of the impressive form of Graeme Swann, Panesar has got his chance after his rival was ruled out with a tear to his left hamstring.

But England have resisted the opportunity to blood other players in the final match of a series they clinched on Wednesday with a five wickets victory at the Premadasa Stadium.

It means England will have used only 12 players in their historic series triumph while Luke Wright, Chris Tremlett and Dimitri Mascarenhas failed to make an appearance during the three-week trip.
