Perpignan prop Freshwater cited

Perpignan prop Perry Freshwater has been cited for allegedly striking London Irish flanker Kieran Roche in the Heineken Cup.

Irish demanded action against the England World Cup squad member, after flanker Roche was taken to hospital with facial injuries suffered in Saturday's 23-6 Pool One defeat.

A statement released by European Rugby Cup on Monday said: "Perry Freshwater, the Perpignan prop, is due to appear before an independent disciplinary committee as a result of a citing arising from the Heineken Cup Round 4 Pool 1 match against London Irish at Stade Aime Giral on Saturday, December 15, 2007."

"The citing lodged by the citing commissioner for the match, John West (Ireland), was for the alleged striking with the arm of London Irish flanker Kieran Roche - contravention of Law 10.4 (a) and contravention of Law 10.4 (k).

"The independent disciplinary committee will be appointed as soon as is practicable."

Clermont Auvergne flanker Jamie Cudmore has also been cited, for allegedly punching Wasps prop Tim Payne during the Londoners' 25-24 victory at Adams Park.
