Pietersen boost for England

Kevin Pietersen eased England's fears about his availability for the crucial final npower Test against India by reporting for training at the Oval.

Pietersen was unwell and missed Tuesday's intensive practice to put him in danger of missing his first Test since making his debut two years ago.

But the Hampshire batsman has responded well to a course of antibiotics and reported for training alongside Stuart Broad, who also missed the net session to play for Leicestershire in a NatWest Pro-40 match at Derby.

England must win this week's final Test to preserve an unbeaten home Test series record stretching back to 2001, while India are chasing their first series victory on English soil since 1986.
