Pirates set for Wembley final

Bristol Rovers emphatically ended their winless run at Sincil Bank and inflicted further play-off misery on Lincoln to book their place in the Coca-Cola League Two final at Wembley following their 5-3 (7-4 aggregate) victory.

Early goals by Stuart Campbell and Rickie Lambert looked to have put the tie beyond Lincoln, but the Imps halved the deficit on the night and got back into the tie through Jeff Hughes' strike. However, Rovers restored their two-goal advantage when Richard Walker his 21st goal of the season.

But Lincoln kept their faint hopes alive by clawing their way back within touching distance through Mark Stallard, before substitutes Sammy Igoe and Sean Rigg finally put Rovers out of reach with cool one-on-one finishes late on before Hughes' injury-time consolation.

Leading 2-1 from the first-leg at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Rovers finished the job with their first win in Lincoln since Gerry Francis' side won 1-0 in September 2001 courtesy of Kevin Gall's goal.

And as the 1,577 travelling Rovers contingent celebrated it was that all too familiar feeling of heartache for their Lincoln counterparts.
