Pompey complete Koroma deal

Portsmouth have confirmed the signing of Gambian forward Omar Koroma from Banjul Hawks on a two-year deal.

Manager Harry Redknapp is excited about the transfer but could yet decide to send the teenager on loan before integrating him with the first team.

Redknapp told the club's official website, www.portsmouthfc.co.uk: "I've been impressed with him. I like him very much and I'm pleased we've got him here."

He added: "He's a good kid and has the potential to become a very good player. He was recommended to me and we got him here straight away because there is a big gulf at the club between senior players and young kids.

"We've got nothing in between really but he can bridge that gap."

Redknapp has already been quoted as saying that Koroma is not yet quite ready for the Premier League and needs experience, but several Coca-Cola Championship clubs have expressed an interest in taking him on loan - with Norwich City reported to be leading the chase.
