Potter fumes after latest defeat

Catalans Dragons boss Mick Potter failed to hide his disappointment after his side slumped to a third consecutive defeat by Brian McDermott's Harlequins.

Trailing 18-12 at the break, the French side clawed their way back to 24-22 before a Rikki Sheriffe try killed off their hopes in the dying seconds, leaving Potter fuming.

He said: "There are a lot of disappointed people in our dressing room and so they should be when you've been humiliated by the same team three times. We got down the right end of the field a few times but we couldn't apply any pressure and we came up with nothing which isn't good enough."

He added: "Our kicking game was poor, our last-option game was poor and we'll have to address that quickly with the guys who are responsible for that.

"We conceded tries at bad times but there's no reason why we shouldn't have been able to come back. We just can't seem to beat Harlequins and now we've only got one chance left."

Potter's men flew out of the traps and were leading 6-0 and 12-6 but a defensive horror-show either side of half-time saw a Henry Paul-inspired Quins take a commanding 22-12 lead.

But the Catalans rallied and tries from Sebastien Raguin and Thomas Bosc saw them set up a tense finish until Sheriffe extinguished the Dragons' fire to the delight of Quins boss McDermott.

He said: "Rikki is ours now and we're pleased he is because he showed what a good player he is. We knew what he could do when he came here and it was just a matter of asking him to prove his worth.

"He's done that, scored two good tries today and now we're seeing the kind of potential we all knew was there.

"Chad Randall was also fantastic and he is the leader of all my warriors. He gives his all and he'll work until the final whistle. We got tired towards the end but we dug in and got our reward."
