Powell in intensive care

Glamorgan batsman Michael Powell is recovering in intensive care after complications following major surgery.

The 30-year-old had a rib removed to ease pressure on an artery which had led to a blood clot, but problems meant Powell had to undergo four operations in total.

Glamorgan wicketkeeper Mark Wallace said: "It was quite worrying for a few days but things are looking good which is excellent news. He has had a tough time being in intensive care. It looks like he is on the mend now."

Glamorgan are hoping Powell will be moved from intensive care to a ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital on Friday as his condition improves.
