Proteas close in on victory

South Africa are firmly in the driving seat against New Zealand after an enthralling third day in Johannesburg.

Set a victory target of 531 in the opening Test, Craig Cumming, Stephen Fleming and Ross Taylor were all out cheaply as the Kiwis stumbled to 57 for three.

Pace bowler Andre Nel did the bulk of the damage after tea, forcing edges from both Fleming and Taylor to finish with figures of two for 19.

Earlier in the day, Hashim Amla (176 not out) and Jacques Kallis (186) starred with the bat as the Proteas declared on 422 for three in their second innings.
