At tea on day four, the Proteas had recovered from a poor start to reach 138 for four in pursuit of a victory target of 389.

Kallis was the star in the afternoon session, stabilising the innings with a beautifully-crafted knock.

He received useful support in the shape of AB de Villiers, who was unbeaten on 31 at the interval.

Earlier, Daren Powell and Fidel Edwards ripped through the hosts' top order to leave them on 45 for three at lunch.
