Pugh extends Potters deal

Stoke midfielder Danny Pugh has penned a one-year contract extension at the Britannia Stadium, the Barclays Premier League club have announced.

The versatile 26-year-old, who has operated in a number of positions for the Potters since joining from Preston in 2007, is now committed to the club until the summer of 2012.

"I'm confident I can get back into the team on a regular basis, even though we have such a big squad," Pugh told the club's official website, www.stokecityfc.com.

Pugh has made only three appearances so far this season and recently expressed his frustration at a lack of first-team action.

However, following a discussion with manager Tony Pulis, he insists he is more than happy to stay with Stoke.

"The manager told me I still had a big part to play here and when you're not playing it is reassuring to hear that," Pugh continued.

Potters boss Pulis added: "Danny has been excellent value for this football club in every respect.

"He's always been a good pro and thoroughly reliable, just the kind of player you want to keep around the place."
