Puletua inspires Tigers thumping

Tony Puletua claimed four of St Helens' 12 tries as the engage Super League leaders demolished Castleford 68-22.

Kiwi forward Puletua effectively put the game beyond doubt with a hat-trick inside the opening 15 minutes at The Jungle while Jon Wilkin also grabbed a treble.

Leon Pryce helped himself to two tries as Saints revelled in the sunny conditions while the irrepressible Sean Long kicked 10 goals.

Castleford, already missing a clutch of players, endured further misery as rising star Joe Westerman was carried off on a stretcher with a serious-looking injury. The 19-year-old loose forward appeared to go into spasms after colliding with a Saints player after 29 minutes.

Paul Cooke provided the inspiration as Hull KR stormed back to register an impressive come-from-behind 32-12 win over Harlequins RL at the Stoop.

Trailing 12-8 at the interval after Quins edged the opening period, the visitors ran in four second-half tries to secure a useful two points.

And it was Cooke who proved the guiding influence, scoring a try and creating three others.

Wigan showed little sign of wear and tear following the busy Easter schedule as they hammered bottom club Celtic Crusaders 44-10 at the JJB Stadium.

The Crusaders crossed in the second minute when Luke Dyer took advantage of some cavalier defending to touch down in the corner.

But four tries in the first half and five after the break with Sean O'Loughlin, Pat Richards and Sam Tomkins all scoring braces followed to give the Warriors a much-needed win after last weekend's defeats to St Helens and Catalans Dragons.
