Purtill lands Saints role

Purtill has shared the Giants' coaching duties with Paul Anderson since the sacking of head coach Jon Sharp last month following the club's disastrous start to the 2008 season.
Anderson and Purtill have overseen an improvement in the Giants' performances of late, with Friday's 34-4 victory at Wigan their third win in their last six games.
Despite their success, Anderson and Purtill both ruled themselves out of the running to replace Sharp and the club recently appointed St George-Illawarra boss Nathan Brown as Sharp's permanent successor.
Purtill will return to Saints, where he was a member of the coaching staff before moving to the Giants three years ago.
"The prospect to work again at Super League's most successful club with a fantastic player roster is very appealing," said Purtill.
"This decision has nothing to do with the appointment of Nathan Brown or the departure of Jon Sharp, I decided some time back that this would be my final year at the Giants.
"I would like to thank everyone at Huddersfield Giants for their support. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead; these are exciting times both on and off the field for St Helens Rugby League Club," he said.
