QPR deny Dowie reports

QPR have brushed off reports claiming boss Iain Dowie is on the verge of being sacked following a row with the club's hierarchy.

Rumours have emerged that Dowie, who was only appointed in May, had clashed with co-owner Flavio Briatore over the recruitment policy at Loftus Road.

But the club have responded to the speculation by insisting there is "categorically no truth in the rumours".

Briatore's clout in the transfer market has been evident this summer with the likes of Real Madrid starlet Daniel Parejo, Argentinian youngster Emmanuel Jorge Ledesma and Italian playmaker Samuel di Carmine arriving on loan deals.

"I obviously have very good links with Real Madrid, but also with AC Milan, Juventus and other top clubs," the flamboyant Renault F1 team boss said earlier this week.

Dowie has also signed Blackpool defender Kaspars Gorkss for £250,000, and secured the return of winger Lee Cook on loan from Fulham.
