Quins snatch Bath win

Harlequins beat Bath, the only club who rivalled them for bad publicity over the summer, 13-11 thanks to a superb injury-time try by Nick Easter and a conversion from Nick Evans.

Bath looked like hanging on in the face of relentless pressure, but the video official finally resolved a fierce contest to give Quins their first win of the season.

Evans also kicked two penalties for Quins while Shontayne Hape went over for Bath with Nicky Little kicking his own brace of penalties.

Referee Wayne Barnes hammered Harlequins with three penalties inside the opening 10 minutes, fly-half Little firing one for an unsuccessful lineout, the other two between the posts to put Bath 6-0 ahead.

The crowd's anxiety switched to resounding support when Evans boomed over a 40-yard penalty after 16 minutes, but Bath retained the edge in territory and possession until Nick Abendanon allowed an Evans up-and-under to bounce in his 22, and was promptly nailed by the former All Black.

With one minute of normal time remaining, Evans kicked his second goal of the night to level at 6-6, only for shocking defence to seemingly hand the game to Bath, Shontayne Hape virtually strolling over on the right.

It looked all over, only for Quins to roar through the gears and batter their way to a win that seemed beyond them.

In the earlier Guiness Premiership clash, Leicester were indebted to a try from England flanker Lewis Moody and 14 points from the boot of Jeremy Staunton for their 19-14 win over Worcester.

But they were made to scrap for victory by a gutsy Worcester, who have failed to win at Welford Road in nine visits since 1895, and twice had to come from behind to clinch their third win of the season.
