Radford welcomes new arrival

Hull captain Lee Radford is relishing the prospect of teaming up with Australia star Craig Fitzgibbon next season.

The Black and Whites last week announced the signing of the veteran Sydney Roosters second rower for the 2010 season. Fitzgibbon will be 32 when he begins his Hull career but Radford believes his club have pulled off a coup.

"He's been a fantastic player and I'm sure he's going to be of benefit to this club," said Radford, who could face increased competition for his place as a result.

"He's a great player. The age is a factor but looking at his career he hasn't missed too many games.

"You want to play with the best players in the world and he fits that bill. The more good players around the joint the better."

Radford is set to return to action after a back injury as Hull take on engage Super League champions Leeds at Headingley Carnegie on Tuesday.

Gareth Raynor and Motu Tony are also in contention to make their first appearances of the season after foot and knee problems respectively while Shaun Berrigan has also overcome a knee injury.

Hull have a good recent record at Headingley having won on two of their last four visits.

Coach Richard Agar said: "It's not really been a ground that has held fear for us.

"Obviously, Leeds command respect for that they have achieved and the quality they have in their side but it is a place where we have come away from with some good results. It is a trip which we are looking forward to."
