Rain delays start of Wimbledon

Persistent rain has delayed the start of the All England Championships at Wimbledon.

Play had been due to start at midday on outside courts and 1300 on the two main show courts, Centre and Number One.

But it was announced soon afterwards that play would not start before 1430.

Fans waiting to see men's defending champion Roger Federer open his campaign against unseeded Russian Teimuraz Gabashvili were left frustrated.

British number two Tim Henman was due on Centre Court to face Spain's Carlos Moya after the completion of Federer's match.
