Despite an immediate return to the Coca-Cola Championship looming large, Pearson insists Jewell will be handed funds to ensure the club are suitably equipped to make a push for survival in the second half of the campaign.
"We're certainly going to be investing in this window - that is for sure. We're obviously going to be bringing in four or five players if we possibly can," he told Sky Sports News.
"We're not going to concede anything yet, but we've got to be realistic - it looks a very difficult challenge.
"The recruitment we do in January will be based on a bit of pragmatism. There's no doubt we need to bring some new players to freshen it up ready to give it a real go towards the end of the season.
"We're going to spend some money this window and we're going to move players in and out just as every club in the Premier League and Championship will be doing.
"Obviously we have half an eye on our situation and the players we bring in - some will be for this season some will be for next."
