Rasmussen takes yellow after stage win

Denmark's Michael Rasmussen won stage eight of the Tour de France on Sunday by a comfortable margin and claimed the yellow jersey in the process.

The 33-year-old Rabobank rider finished two minutes and 47 seconds ahead of Spanish pair Iban Mayo in second and Alejandro Valverde in third.

Rasmussen took the lead in the 165km stage from Le Grand-Bornand to Tignes after the descent at Cormet de Roseland with an aggressive break and was rarely threatened by the chasing pack.
