Real realistic over Premier League duo

Real Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic admits it is virtually impossible that either Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo or Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas will play for the Spanish giants in the future.

Both players have been linked with Real over the last couple of years, but the duo have each committed themselves to long-term contracts with their respective clubs.

"I am very clear that we are not going to waste time on things which we cannot do." Mijatovic told Radio Marca.

Portugal ace Ronaldo agreed a five-year contract extension with United last year, tying him to Old Trafford until 2012, while Spaniard Fabregas penned an eight-year contract with Arsenal in 2006.

Mijatovic added: "Of course it would not be bad for us to have a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, but he is at a great club like Manchester United. I see it as an impossible signing,"

He added: "We are not the only team who would like to have a player such as Cesc, but he belongs to a great club like Arsenal and it is almost impossible to sign him!

"We will see what happens in the future. It is undeniable that he is a very interesting player, but signing him is something that would be tremendously difficult."
