Report: N'Zogbia makes Newcastle stand

Newcastle midfielder Charles N'Zogbia appeared to have turned to desperate measures to force his way out of the club before the transfer window closes.

The Frenchman claimed in a statement to Sky Sports News that he had been "insulted" by Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear and would never play for the former Wimbledon boss again.

N'Zogbia, who has made no secret of his wish to leave St James' Park, did not explain how the offence had been caused. His statement said: "The club are aware there are offers on the table and they should accept one of them."

N'Zogbia, 22, recently revealed his ambition to play for a club more likely to challenge for trophies than Newcastle.

N'Zogbia, who signed a five-year contract in 2007, has been linked with clubs including Tottenham, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Wigan, plus a possible return to France.

His statement explained: "First of all I wish to apologise to the fans for wanting to leave the club.

"However, having been insulted by Joe Kinnear, I will never play for him again while he remains Newcastle manager."

N'Zogbia joined Newcastle in September 2004 from French club Le Havre after a tug-of-war between the clubs for his services, which went all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
