Retirement 'crossed my mind' - Tevez

Carlos Tevez has considered the prospect of retiring from football if Argentina win next summer's World Cup in South Africa, conceding he is "saturated" by so much football.

The 25-year-old Manchester City striker would like to spend more time with his family and may return to Argentina with Boca Juniors or turn his back on the game all together.

He revealed in an interview with Argentinian newspaper Ole: "It crosses my mind to hang up my boots if we win the World Cup, although I have a contract until 2014 (with Manchester City). It's complicated, there's my family, the desire to return to Boca Juniors, but I think about it."

Tevez moved to City from neighbours Manchester United last summer after winning two Barclays Premier League titles and the Champions League at Old Trafford.

He added: "I'm a little tired of so much football, so much football. I want to enjoy my family a bit.

"I'm very keen to stop and get a bit of calm. I've already won a lot. Living for football has saturated me a lot."

Tevez is also not concerned by his limited opportunities under Argentina coach Diego Maradona.

"I had my chances and I couldn't perform at 100%," he added. "When the team needs goals, you need to score them.

"I couldn't do it and if you don't do it, someone else will come in and get their chance. That's how the national team is and it seems fine to me because there are no crowns for anyone."
