Ridsdale: Fan will be banned
06 January 2009
Dean was hit above the eye by a coin late in the first half of the thrilling 2-2 draw and the fan was later arrested.
Ridsdale said: "This behaviour has no place at all in football. The person has been identified and arrested and if found guilty, the club will impose a lifetime ban."
He added: "The club have personally apologised to referee Mike Dean and I can only reaffirm that this behaviour has no place in football."
The incident overshadowed a pulsating clash in which Ross McCormack's last-minute penalty ensured the honours were even.
Swansea had wasted no time in getting off the mark through Nathan Dyer as Dave Jones' promotion hopefuls struggled to cope with their bright attacks early on but Cardiff came into the game steadily and restored parity early in the second period when Michael Chopra levelled.
Teenager Joe Allen scored his first goal for Swansea with just two minutes remaining but McCormack still had time to fire in a second leveller in dubious circumstances from the penalty spot.
Cardiff boss Dave Jones added: "It was total stupidity and it has taken the edge off a great game of football.
"It's sad because everyone will be talking about the man who threw the coin rather than a game which had everything - excitement, controversy and last minute penalty."
