Robinho staying put - Calderon

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has ruled out "any possibility" of Robinho leaving the Spanish champions for Chelsea.

The Blues revealed on Thursday night they had made a bid - reported to be in the region of £20million - for the Brazil forward they have been linked with repeatedly this summer.

Robinho's agent has outlined his client's desire to move to Stamford Bridge, but Calderon is adamant the 24-year-old will be going nowhere - even if Chelsea raise their offer closer to Real's £27million valuation. "Definitely he's going to stay with us. The coach (Bernd Schuster) has said he wants him in our team," Calderon told BBC Radio Five Live.

"We don't see any possibility of him leaving Real Madrid.

"We know Chelsea have been interested in signing him. He's one of the best players we have got in our team - we need him for the next season."

Wagner Ribeiro, Robinho's agent, earlier expressed his hope that some middle ground could be found to allow the player to quit the Bernabeu for England.

Ribeiro told Spanish newspaper Marca from Bogota, where Madrid are currently on tour: "Robinho is very angry with the way the Madrid bosses are dealing with him.

"He calls me every day to know whether anyone has spoken to me about his future, and I always have to tell him that no one has called.

"I have been trying to speak with someone from the club for three days. Robinho does not understand what is going on.

"His ambition is to become the best player in the world but he won't achieve that at Madrid because they treat him like a normal player."
