Robinson braced for disappointment

England goalkeeper Paul Robinson admits he would not be surprised if he was left out of new manager Fabio Capello's first squad.

Robinson was dropped by former boss Steve McClaren for England's decisive Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia last November and has since lost his place in the Tottenham team.

The 28-year-old told the Daily Mirror: "I have got to start again and build again with England. I don't think I can expect to be in the squad this time."

He added: "I am not playing football and if that's the case I can't expect to be selected. I will be surprised if I am.

"If I am considered, fantastic. But I don't think that will be the case and I am ready for that.

"I am not arrogant enough to say I should be picked based on what I have done before. It's a new manager that has come in, he will have his own opinions and we will have to wait and see.

"But this whole situation is an incentive for me to get my head down at Tottenham and concentrate on getting my place back."
