Roma insist Spalletti staying put

Roma insist coach Luciano Spalletti will remain with the Serie A club despite reported interest from Chelsea.

The Italian was one of the names being linked with the vacant managerial post at Stamford Bridge following the sacking of Avram Grant, but the Giallorossi have insisted the 49-year-old will be staying put.

"Spalletti is the Roma coach and as far as we are aware will continue to be the Roma coach next season," a senior club official said. "Moreover, Spalletti is under contract with Roma until 2011."

Spalletti helped Roma defend their Coppa Italia title this season while they also finished second behind Intern Milan in Serie A.
