Rose continues fightback

Englishman Justin Rose rolled in a hat-trick of birdies from the fourth but back-to-back bogeys slowed his charge in the third round of the Open.

Rose, fourth as a 17-year-old amateur at Birkdale in 1998, looked out of contention after an opening 75, but fought back well with a 70 on Friday which was four shots better than playing partner Tiger Woods.

Rose responded to those two dropped shots with a birdie at the ninth to leave him one over par - seven shots adrift of leader Sergio Garcia.
