Rovers fight back for Murrayfield win

Hull KR recovered from 16-6 down to reclaim second place in the engage Super League with a thrilling 36-28 win in the final Magic Weekend match.

Warrington had looked like ending the Robins' recent run of form through early tries from Chris Hicks, Michael Monaghan and Vinnie Anderson at Murrayfield.

Yet Rovers, having fallen behind Huddersfield and Leeds earlier in the day, hit back to claim a fifth win in six games and move within a point of leaders St Helens.

Earlier, Super League champions Leeds produced a perfect first 40 minutes to ensure a return to winning ways - their 36-16 victory over Catalans moved them to within two points of faltering leaders St Helens.

The Rhinos went into the penultimate fixture of the Magic Weekend with just two wins from their previous seven league and cup matches but emphatically snuffed out any talk of a crisis with a brilliant first-half display that killed the game off.

Powerful winger Ryan Hall scored two tries, one of them a spectacular 70-metre effort straight from a restart, to take his tally for the season to 12 and help put his side into an unassailable 30-0 interval lead.

Huddersfield moved to within two points of St Helens with an impressive 40-16 victory over Celtic Crusaders in a one-sided opening clash.

Substitute hooker Shaun Lunt touched down twice as the Giants bounced back to winning ways after heavy back-to-back defeats had threatened to derail their promising start to the season under new coach Nathan Brown.

And Hull's recent upturn in fortunes continued as they edged a tight affair with Castleford 24-16.

Richard Agar's men, who won at Salford last week to end a run of six successive defeats, had trailed three times here before Danny Tickle's penalty and Danny Washbrook's try saw them over the line.
