Saints end Odsal hoodoo
23 January 2008
James Graham took advantage of a darting run by Paul Wellens to plunge over and then Ade Gardner crossed as Saints made a dream start.
Lee Gilmour put them further ahead before James Evans and Paul Sykes started a Bulls fightback, but Cunningham's try sealed the victory for Saints despite Sykes's second try.
Scott Donald took his season tally to five tries with a brace as Leeds warmed up for the World Club Challenge by ruthlessly dispatching Catalans 34-6 at Headingley.
Catalans gave the Rhinos an early scare through Demitri Pelo's try, but Leeds replied with seven of their own.
Keith Senior also touched down twice for the hosts, with Ian Kirke, Danny McGuire and Ali Lauitiiti all adding further scores for the rampant Rhinos.
A stirring Hull fightback saw them register a first win of the season over engage Super League pacesetters Wigan 24-22.
A 71st-minute try from ex-Warrior Danny Tickle, which he also converted, settled the contest at the KC Stadium.
Gareth Hock, George Carmont and Pat Richards had looked to have given the Warriors the edge but Danny Houghton's score sparked a Black & White revival to hand them a much-needed win.
