Samaras would welcome Hoops move

Manchester City striker Georgios Samaras has admitted he is interested in joining Celtic this week.

The 22-year-old Greek player is out of favour at the City of Manchester Stadium and believes his ambition of playing for his country at Euro 2008 could be helped by making the move to Glasgow.

He told the Daily Record: "I would be happy to go to Scotland. I would not have any problem with leaving the Premier League - playing football is the main thing for me."

He added: "At this moment I need to find somewhere to play football. I have the European Championship this summer and I need to play games before then.

"I would have the chance of European football with Celtic and that is also very interesting."
