Sanchez: It's still in our hands
30 January 2007
The Cottagers lost 3-1 at Arsenal on Sunday, and remain just one point above the relegation zone.
Sanchez, however, is not about to throw in the towel. He said: "We are in a very lucky situation. Our destiny is in our own hands. We can determine what we do. The minute it is out of our hands, we are in trouble."
With only two matches left - at home to Liverpool and at Middlesbrough - there is now little margin for further error.
Sanchez, however, could at least take the positives from what was a spirited second-half effort at the Emirates Stadium.
His side dragged themselves level after going behind early on when Simon Davies lobbed in following a mistake by Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann with 13 minutes left.
The veteran German then produced a fine block at his near post to deny Michael Brown before the home side went up the other end and regained the lead through Emmanuel Adebayor.
A penalty from Gunners captain Gilberto wrapped up the points, and left Fulham with it all to do to retain top-flight football as their winless run extended to 10 league games.
The Northern Ireland manager added: "Every point at this moment is precious, but I think one win will probably do it. It is a matter of whether we can get that win.
"Everybody down the bottom is nervous. Anybody who tells you otherwise is not telling the truth. So much rides on it, not so much for the players, but for the club and the staff and fans."
