Santoro first for Murray

British number one Andy Murray was handed a first-round clash against Fabrice Santoro at Wimbledon following Friday morning's draw at the All England Club.

Murray - who missed the prestigious grand slam tournament last year because of a wrist injury - has recovered from a thumb problem which forced him out of the Artois Championship at Queen's.

The 21-year-old Scot, ranked 11th in the world, has been seeded 12, and so will miss the other big names until later in the tournament.

Defending champion Roger Federer, seeking a sixth straight title, is the top seed in the men's singles and will face Dominik Hrbaty of Slovakia.

World number two Rafael Nadal, the French Open champion who won at Queen's, is also in the bottom half of the draw with Murray and must take on German qualifier Andreas Beck.

Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic is seeded third and will play Michael Berrer, of Germany. The Serbian is in the top half of the draw, with Federer.

There is other British interest in the men's singles, with Alex Bogdanovic set to face Italian Simone Bolelli.

Qualifier Chris Eaton has been given a tough first-round test against Nicolas Mahut. Wild card James Baker will take on Italy's Stefano Galvani, who came through qualifying.

In the women's singles, Serbia's Ana Ivanovic, winner of the French Open at Roland Garros and current world number one, is the top seed and faces Rossana De Los Rio of Paraguay in the first round at SW19.

Maria Sharapova, the 2004 champion, will face qualifier Stephanie Foretz in the first round, while Britain's Naomi Cavaday, a wild card, was handed a glamour first-round tie agianst defending women's champion Venus Williams, the seventh seed.
