Scolari looks on the bright side
31 January 2008
Scolari gave his players a day off on Monday but they returned to Cobham on Tuesday for a team meeting and training session.
"Before we went to training, we had a good team meeting," said Scolari. "Since Sunday I have had the chance to watch again the Fulham game and Tuesday, with my players, we talked about all of that game before going out for a good training session."
Chelsea allowed a 2-1 lead to slip in the final moments of the game against Fulham but there was no inquest into the outcome at their meeting.
Instead, Scolari and his players prepared to face Southend in the FA Cup third round at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
He added: "Now we begin to look ahead to my first FA Cup game, against Southend, a game we must be ready for, as if we are playing a team in first, second or third position in the Premier League."
There were a number of absentees from the session with Brazilian defender Alex and winger Florent Malouda, both hamstring injury victims in Sunday's 2-2 draw, out of action.
However, Ricardo Carvalho, who replaced Alex on Sunday, was able to put more work in towards full fitness.
Youngsters Lee Sawyer, who has spent time on loan at Southend this season, and Jeffrey Bruma were also involved.
