The Brazilian, as well as the rest of his management team, kept their silence after a controversial game that saw captain John Terry sent off and ended with Liverpool still top of the table.

Scolari was furious with referee Phil Dowd at half-time after England skipper Terry had been red-carded for a high tackle on Leon Osman.

Everton boss David Moyes considered the tackle "reckless" and was not surprised to see Terry dismissed.

Scolari kept his opinions to himself afterwards, and will now lose Terry for the next three matches.

A Chelsea spokesman said: "None of the management team feel able to come up for a press conference. They had issues with a number of decisions and felt that they could well get themselves into trouble if they did speak."

Chelsea are likely to be in trouble with the Premier League for their no-show at the press conference and can expect to be fined.

Moyes revealed Osman has an ankle injury following Terry's challenge that could keep him out of the Boxing Day trip to Middlesbrough.

"My first reaction from the sidelines was that the tackle for the sending-off was reckless," said Moyes. "It was going to be close. In my day I would have enjoyed a tackle like that, but they won't allow them now.

"The referee did well. Did he get the big decisions right? Yes, he did. The tackle for the red card was not good, and the disallowed goal was also the correct decision."
