The Celtic centre-half suffered a knee injury during his side's late 2-1 win against Gretna and played on in obvious discomfort.
"I took a bang to the side of my knee as I went up for a header and it was sore one," he told the Evening Times. "I played on, but I'll just have to wait and see how things are."
"I was given painkillers after the game and ice to put on my knee and the physios at Celtic will have a look at the injury and see how it is.
"Obviously I can't say at this time for sure if I'll be fit to play on Saturday against Ukraine.
"We'll have to wait and see, but it goes without saying that I'm hoping it will ease off and I'll be okay to join up with the rest of the Scotland squad.
"The next two matches against Ukraine and Georgia are massive and everyone wants to be there and play their part."
Celtic boss Gordon Strachan revealed after the Fir Park clash that Paul Hartley would be almost certain to miss the crucial games, which could put Scotland on the verge of qualification.
He said: "Paul has run about forever this season but 15 minutes in that right-back position and he pulls a hamstring.
"That is usually a three-week job."
