Leicester player Selby was runner-up to John Higgins two years ago and is seeded to meet Ronnie O'Sullivan in the semi-finals this time.
Selby won 10-6 and made two century breaks, 127 in the first frame of the afternoon, 117 four frames later, and 101 to clinch his place in the last 16.
Walden showed his ability too, with a 100 break, but over the course of the match the Flintshire-born Englishman was outplayed.
Selby led 6-3 overnight and made a dream start on Monday with his century, only missing out on a total clearance when he attempted a cross-table double on the black and left the ball in the jaws of the pocket.
Walden needed to respond immediately to stay in the match and runs of 43 and 28 brought the gap back to three frames.
They traded frames again to leave the match poised at 8-5 in Selby's favour at the mid-session interval, with Walden winning the 13th frame with his classy century.
But Selby stretched his lead to 9-5 with an immaculate 117 clearance, and that left Walden needing to win the next five. He managed one, but the next was dominated by Selby who ran out of position on the pink but cut it in brilliantly to reach three figures.
