Shearer was disappointed Martins withdrew from the squad to face Stoke last Saturday on the morning of the game with a groin problem, but claims there is no rift between the pair.

"The whole thing was forgotten about afterwards," Shearer told nufcTV. "Oba never broke any rules or curfew and all I was disappointed with was the timing of things."

He added: "But I've spoken to him and everything is fine and we're hoping he'll be fit as soon as possible."

Martins has not trained this week, but has not yet been ruled out of the clash at White Hart Lane where Shearer will be looking for his first win since taking charge.

While Tottenham's relegation worries have been put to bed under Harry Redknapp, third-bottom Newcastle lie two points adrift of safety with six games of the season left.
