Shoaib still set on surrey stint

Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar remains eager to get his Surrey career under way as soon as possible after being denied entry to the United Kingdom on Wednesday due to visa problems.

The 33-year-old paceman has been offered a short stint with the English County Championship side, and now plans to travel to London this weekend after obtaining a work visa.

"I had to come back because I did not have all the papers required," Shoaib was quoted as saying by www.cricketnirvana.com.

"I have a 10-year visitor's visa, but the authorities there required a work visa.

"I am hopeful of getting a work visa soon and hope to fly out to the UK on Saturday."
