Potter revealed earlier this week his talismanic scrum-half had made a quicker than expected recovery from a broken jaw and could come into the reckoning to face Huddersfield at Warrington on Sunday.

Long was initially ruled out for eight weeks after suffering the injury in Saints' surprise Super League loss at Salford on July 3.

The 32-year-old has been included in a 19-man party along with hooker Keiron Cunningham.

Cunningham had been doubtful after suffering a knee injury in last week's derby win over Wigan.

James Roby remains on the sidelines as he continues his recovery from a broken hand, but Bryn Hargreaves and Chris Dean are fit after recovering from mumps and gastroenteritis respectively.
