Silkman to answer more Quest questions

One of the football agents criticised in Lord Stevens' inquiry into Premier League transfers revealed he has been asked to provide further information to the Quest team on Saturday.

Barry Silkman, who the final Quest report said had failed to initially disclose his involvement in all the transactions in which he received fees, insists he is happy to answer the additional questions.

"They sent me 123 questions to answer," he said on Sky Sports News. "I've answered everything they have asked me so far and they will be answered in due course."

Silkman insisted he had provided the inquiry with unprecedented access to his business accounts and documentation but defended his refusal to open up his personal accounts to scrutiny.

He said: "I would not show them my personal statements - they had nothing to do with it."

Silkman was one of a number of agents to reject the findings of the report when it was published earlier this month.

Lord Stevens, who was investigating transfers which took place over two years from January 2004, refused to sign off 17 deals involving 15 agents.

Silkman today reiterated his criticisms of the inquiry, saying: "They have come out with statements saying they're not happy with certain transfers but they're not saying what they think is wrong.

"This all started with a bungs allegation.

"These people have been working on it for 18 months. They can't find any bungs to football managers, football coaches, chairmen, chief executives - they can't find anything."
